New York City ferries: Filthy, but fast.

The caption is about 1/6 correct. Thatīs about how much of the Staten Island ferry this photo shows.

These are NOT fast boats. Iīd guess the photographer had about 5 minutes to get a nice shot of the whole thing. What was he DOING all that time? Maybe the majestic sight of a sooty yellow barge steaming toward him at 6 miles per hour proved just too exciting. Must have thrown his timing off, and he clicked the shutter just as the thing chugged past.
