Michigan: "Where the Rubber Meets the Road."
The caption says this road has "won honors in national competition." I never knew roads competed. Did you? Wouldn't you love to see that covered by one of the sports networks? Maybe they're like golf tourneys, with an
announcer excitedly whispering the play-by-play into a microphone, while a small clutch of spectators on the shoulder of the road applauds quietly. Caption:
"This freeway traverses the length of Michigan's lower peninsula from the Ohio border to the Straits of Mackinac, and across the eastern end of the upper peninsula to the International Bridge at Sault Ste. Marie. So engineered
to give travelers the benefit of the natural beauty of Michigan's countryside, this road has won honors in national competition as one of the most beautiful in the country."
