The Olivetti Typotel: Hunt 'n Peck Hospitality.

Here we see the Olivetti Typotel's convention center. In the vision of the architect (God, I hate having to write this), those masonry blocks beneath the balcony in front are supposed to evoke the "keyboard" of the "typewriter."

The big, shiny dome, I think, is supposed to represent one of those "type balls" found in high-end electric typewriters of the early 1980s. But, wait a minute. Only IBM typewriters had those, didn't they? Olivetti typewriters didn't have those, did they? Could this have been a collaborative project?

(Turns out we were wrong about this. A recent message from Albert Johnson explains why.)
