The Roach Museum: "Roaches check in, but..."

Omigod. Is this some kind of goo you spray on oil paintings, so ROACHES will stick to them?

No, but it really took some effort to make it appear that way. The photographer first posed his model in art-attack position, then embellished the effect with an unfortunate placement of his flash. Its reflection on the canvas creates the illusion of a gelatinous glob of insecticide slowly dripping down into the frame, dissolving pigments as it goes.

This ad could be one reason why Bee Brand Insect Spray never quite made it into the Fortune 500. Too bad. Could have been a visionary product, years ahead of the Roach Motel.

Not an original card, but hats off to APC for republishing this authentic 1948 ad photo as a post card. A magnificent find, and we here at the Archive are grateful.
