Is this where the term "balking" originated?

Can´t you just see Ed and Eloise beaming with pride at this thing, and wondering if they´d have to hire bouncers and put up velvet ropes on the sidewalk to control the salivating crowds it would attract to their little restaurant?

Ed was a canny advertiser. He probably figured there weren´t many places you could go in New York City for a steaming pile of HORSE HEARTS. History has proved him right, too. The Balkan-American Restaurant on East 21st Street has been gone for a long, long time.
